Rod and Line
For loch and small river fishing for salmon sea trout and brown trout, long rods and heavy tackle are not necessary. An 8 to 10 foot rod with an appropriate reel, an intermediate floating line and 8 to 10lb breaking strain good quality monofilament leader with a size 12 wet fly are all that are required.
Wet Flies
Salmon and sea trout anglers have their tried and trusted choice of flies, a self fulfilling arrangement! These are a few favourites from Obbe Fishings record book. Blue Zulu, Bumble Claret, Alexandra, Invicta, Bloody Butcher, Dunkeld, Peter Ross for Sea Trout, Ally’s Shrimp, Hairy Mary, Munro Killer, Silver Doctor, Stoats Tail, General Practioner, Thunder and Lightening doubles or trebles for Salmon. And what about a muddler or two.
